·      612: Babylon defeats Assyria

Jehoahaz: 609BC (also known as Shallum; brief reign, deposed by Neco of Egypt)

Jehoiakim: 609 - 598BC (also known as Eliakim; very hostile to Jeremiah)

·      605: first edition of Jeremiah’s book burned by the king; Nebuchadnezzar defeats Egypt; first deportation to Babylon (Daniel’s deportation)

Jehoiachin: 598 - 597BC

·      597: second deportation

Zedekiah: 597 - 586BC (mixed relationship with Jeremiah)

·      586: destruction of Jerusalem and final deportation
